Parmesan garlic chicken pasta in the slow cooker

The main dish starts early. Bringing it together with pasta is the part to watch.

Recipe origin

Alyssa Rivers · The Recipe Critic. The starting point is Crockpot Parmesan Garlic Chicken Pasta. The recipe connects a slow-cooker chicken preparation with pasta cooked separately, then brought into the sauce.

This is a saved recipe to try. My notes introduce the preparation; the original author supplies the full recipe, and I have not documented a cook-through of this version.

Dinner comes together when the pasta is added

This saved recipe starts chicken in the slow cooker with Parmesan garlic sauce, cream cheese and Parmesan. Pasta is cooked separately and stirred in afterward.

The final stage still asks for attention. A pot of sauce becomes a pasta dinner only after the noodles are ready, and the amount of sauce beside the pasta shapes the finished bowl. The exact sauce and pasta chosen are useful details to keep with the recipe.

I have not cooked this version yet. Alyssa Rivers’s original recipe supplies the complete method and instructions for the sauce.

A few details to watch

Before starting the slow cooker

Start with thawed chicken. Use a thermometer to confirm poultry reaches 165°F, and follow the appliance instructions. USDA slow cooker guidance; FoodSafety.gov temperature chart.

The sauce has a second job

Before the pasta is added, the cooker holds the chicken and its sauce. Afterward, that same sauce has to coat the noodles as well. The change makes the final combination worth describing in its own right, including the exact sauce and pasta used rather than only the name of the meal.

An initial cooking account could follow those two stages with photographs of the actual batch. It could note the sauce before the pasta, the amount of pasta incorporated and the appearance of one serving. That would make later adjustments easier to interpret. The original recipe remains the source for instructions; the separate pasta photograph currently on this page is context rather than evidence of a test.
